( vote)Uriyadi 2 Review
The movie highlights the issues that we can totally relate to, with a political angle. We have strong messages with hard-hitting dialogues.
Uriyadi 2 is a must watch for its genuine attempt.

Director Vijay Kumar who did a great job in Uriyadi, and is now back with Uriyadi 2.
Though the movie is not a direct sequel to Uriyadi, the core concept is kept intact.
And we cannot really compare Uriyadi 2 to Uriyadi as the shades are completely different with both movies.
Story
Lenin Vijay (Vijay Kumar) plays a youngster who likes to be very casual and easy going. But he also is socially responsible and emotes anger upon seeing injustice.
There is a chemical factory that doesn’t follow its rules properly. It acts as a threat to the surroundings and the people living there.
Lenin and his friends happen to join the same company.
We have a few sequences that build up towards the seriousness of the movie, including a romance sequence – thankfully its kept short and doesn’t distract us.

After joining work, Lenin is not happy about how the company is reluctant to spend on safety measures and to follow the rules.
An accident happens that hits the villagers pretty hard. We have some really gory scenes involving vomiting, and blood oozing out of kids’ eyes.
How Lenin rises up to ensure justice to the victims forms the rest of the story.
Screenplay
The movie is well supported by its screenplay. But we shouldn’t compare the narration to that of Uriyadi as it is totally different.
The movie starts off like it is about Lenin and slowly and seamlessly makes the switch that it is about the villagers.
The movie turns into a political thriller highlighting how politicians are selfish and don’t care about people anymore.
The movie has hit the screens on time right before the elections to broadcast such hard hitting messages.
There are many scenes that remind you of the real case Sterlite incidents but you don’t get pushed into.
There are also subtle other messages – like that of caste – that are told in a very gentle manner without being on your face.
Nevertheless the movie doesn’t fail to deliver the seriousness of the issues it handles and makes you to root for them – its in the writing.
The only drawback is the climax and the scene leading to it, that could have been stronger!
Acting by cast
Vijay plays Lenin and seamlessly fits in the role. Perhaps since he has written the role himself, it was pretty easy for him to deliver.
Vismaya plays Isai Vaani, Vijay’s love interest and her performance is decent.
And luckily she gets more weightage in the script as the movie progresses, so she gets scope.
The rest of the supporting actors are perfectly cast.
Technicals
Govind Vasantha’s music is one of the biggest pluses to the movie. He has literally unleashed himself and lifted the mood of “Uriyadi” – literally Uriyadi.
His music is one of the reasons the tempo of the movie is elevated. Having said that, the romance portions are treated with gentle music!
Cinematography is neat and intense.
Uriyadi 2: Final Verdict
You definitely can’t compare Uriyadi and Uriyadi 2. The latter has a different shade and has layered narration.
The movie highlights the issues that we can totally relate to, with a political angle. We have strong messages with hard-hitting dialogues.
Uriyadi 2 is a must watch for its genuine attempt.
