Thimiru Pudichavan Review
Even though Thimiru Pudichavan is not an intolerable movie, it certainly doesn’t live up to the standards of the first few movies of Vijay Antony.
If you can tolerate the loud drama, over the top stunts and illogical screenplay, go can go for it!
Vijay Antony has been involved with multiple tasks in the cinema industry recently. Apart from being a music director, he had been into production, acting, passive story writing, and also editing.
We don’t know how much of pressure he has been accepting, but lately some of his movies have not been doing so well when compared to his initial hits like Naan, Salim and the like.
Thimiru Pudichavan seems to have joined the list of the “not so doing well” kind of Vijay Antony’s movies.
Usually a cop movie works towards helping out a budding actor to raise his popularity in the industry. And in a way, Thimiru Pudichavan has been geared in that direction in the making.
However, the completed product doesn’t seem to either live up to the standards or fulfil the purpose.
The plot is indeed an interesting one with a dash of social responsibility attached to it. But the commercial elements have been added too much in the recipe that the dish has been spoiled.
Unnecessary comedy, illogical scenes, filler frames, forced accent of the female lead, over the top stunts and the religious link that stands unattached to the rest of the movie – all these spoil the interesting plot.
On the positive side, Vijay Antony has done his homework and looks fit and perfect for a cop. But still, he needs to work on his facial expressions.
In fact, we have references in the movie itself that mock his straight faced behaviour. Is that Antony’s smart move to make us take it easy?
Music and cinematography have helped to keep up the mood and tension of the script – but they can only help so much.
Nivetha‘s role has been written without care and the songs sound quite forceful too.
The movie does carry a nice message and a few nice highlights of how juveniles are used in crimes. However it becomes too much of an advice centre beyond a point.
We get to listen to long dialogues that give you ample advice.
And there are many logical loopholes too in the script.
Perhaps it is high time Vijay Antony ditches multi tasking and focus on any one thing.
Even though Thimiru Pudichavan is not an intolerable movie, it certainly doesn’t live up to the standards of the first few movies of Vijay Antony.
If you can tolerate the loud drama, over the top stunts and illogical screenplay, go can go for it!
