( votes)Thaanaa Serndha Koottam aka TSK has created a lot of hype and it has been on of the most anticipated movies of 2018.
Right from the release of the teaser, to the trailer and the lyric videos, TSK has been in the limelight for Suriya fans.
The plot of TSK is loosely based on that of the Hindi movie Special 26. Vignesh has added in his potion to make it appealing for the local audience.
Suriya’s role in TSK is far far away from the strict and stiff roles we have been seeing recently – like in Singam. And that has worked out as a big plus as Suriya has casually and very easily pulled off the role.
His “casual” acting shines at various places throughout the movie.
Having said that, TSK is not all about Suriya. We have a bunch of stars in the prominent roles and each one of them do their part at best.
Ramya Krishnan deserves a special mention as she expresses her seasoned acting with much ease. For Senthil, this is a great comeback.
We also have Keerthy Suresh, R. J. Balaji, Karthik, and Suresh Menon in the prominent roles.
Keerthy Suresh plays a Brahmin girl. Her screen presence is quite limited but she does her job neatly in the given time.
The songs are already a hit. The fans get super excited when Sodakku song plays!
The movie’s plot is about cleaning up the filth – the corruption. Suriya, whose dream is to become a CBI officer, takes up the role of a fake CBI officer along with his “thaana serndha kootam” – the gang – and conduct fake raids.
They steal/loot money from the corrupted rich. This means Suriya’s “thaana serndha kootam” are the good thieves.
Vignesh has done a great job with the screenplay. The pace is good – but it is not a racy one from start to end as many would expect. The pace picks up at places and the movie for sure drags at some other places.
But that’s not a big deal as Vignesh manages to keep you engaged from start to end. He presents you with lots of twists and turns.
He teases you with something and when you expect one thing on screen, he surprises you with another. You can see many such instances throughout the movie.
In short TSK feels fresh. It definitely does not feel as if it is a derived screenplay – we can see a lot of originality, hats off to Vignesh for making it suitable for Tamil audience.
The selection of star cast is another plus for the movie. It doesn’t feel as if we are going to watch only Suriya carrying the movie on his shoulders – as it felt with Singam.
TSK has all the elements an entertainer should have, plus it handles social issues pretty lightly – but with an impact.
Thaanaa Serndha Koottam will be worth the watch. Don’t miss it.
