( vote)Pyaar Prema Kaadhal Review
In short, Pyaar Prema Kaadhal is a refreshing and youthful entertainer. It has some strong portrayal of modern love and the mindset of modern youth.
This week, if you choose to have some really good fun AND enjoy some pleasant music, go watch Pyaar Prema Kaadhal and you won’t be disappointed.
We have seen love stories of all kinds. We also see love tracks in the serious movies. But there is a stereotype for the most part except for some rare cases.
Pyaar Prema Kaadhal (PPK) is so fresh and modern. You need to have a youthful mind and forward thinking to accept certain things you see on screen.
Breaking stereotypes and still pleasing the masses is a tricky thing and PPK manages to achieve the same.
We have a hero (Shree, played by Harish Kalyan of Big Boss fame) who is a very simple, guy next door – nothing complicated.
He is so close to his parents. Gets a lot of love, care and comfort from his concerned parents.
Yet he is unable to share his deepest emotions with them so openly.
On the other hand, we have a heroine Sindhuja (played by Raiza Wilson, also of Bigg Boss fame). She is bold, independent and modern.
She is seemingly so detached from her dad, but still manages to share stuff with him in a very casual manner.
The attitude, the brought up, the lifestyle and setting are totally different between Shree and Sindhuja. What happens if they fall in love?
That’s what PPK is all about, but in a rather fresh way!
Sidhuja’s strength is her boldness and her characterization adds strength to the script. In the same context, Shree’s stereotype is his strength.
Both Harish and Raiza do total justice to their roles. They have a fantastic on screen chemistry that works out like charm throughout the movie.
The movie’s strength, apart from the characterization of the lead roles, is the effort taken in highlighting even the smallest of modern relationship issues.
Yuvan’s tunes add further strength to the movie.
Shree and Sindhuja happen to be colleagues and Shree falls for her. She gets the cue. They both are friends and then move on to the next level.
Shree is all about making a traditional decision of getting married to the woman he loves. Sindhuja is modern and doesn’t think that way.
For her having casual sex and staying as friends is fine, while for Shree this is something he can’t cope with.
Sindhuja proposes a live in relationship. She wants to keep things less complicated, while Shree wants to keep things the authentic way.
How the two work out the differences in their mode of thinking, the status and everything forms the rest of the story.
The screenplay is perfectly paced for the rom-com to workout. There are no unnecessary aspects as in the usual rom-coms.
The director has taken the story forward in a neat and “to-the-point” manner.
The movie has only the romance as the storyline and bringing it to the audience in a non-boring manner as a full length feature film is not an easy task.
But Elan has accomplished it so neatly. The birthday surprise scene is something you need to look out for.
The climax also breaks the stereotypes and delivers what the audience wants.
In short, Pyaar Prema Kaadhal is a refreshing and youthful entertainer. It has some strong portrayal of modern love and the mindset of modern youth.
And thankfully, the director didn’t take up the movie as a tool to give us messages. That way, PPK stays as a pure and perfect entertainer!
This week, if you choose to have some really good fun AND enjoy some pleasant music, go watch Pyaar Prema Kaadhal and you won’t be disappointed.
