Summary
Overall, Naachiyaar has some good message that’s narrated in a non-Bala style by Bala – and that gives you a totally different movie that’s surely engaging.
I’ve added the word “nearly” in the title because you might feel the first half to be not-so-concrete for the movie’s genre.
However Naachiyaar is surely worth the watch for the acting, screenplay and the message it gives you!
The much awaited Bala’s Naachiyaar is out today with a bang. The movie got so much hype after the release of teaser and trailers.
Especially, when Jyothika sweared in the trailer, many were not comfortable with it. A police complaint was even filed against Jo and Bala.
But it seems that all such things have only offered free publicity for the movie.
Naachiyaar has Jyothika, G. V. Prakash and Ivana in the lead roles. Jyothika plays Naachiyaar, a tough, yet good-by-heart cop and she neatly fits into the role.
G. V. Prakash plays Kaathu, a slum boy, who equally performs well alongside Jyothika. Ivana plays his love interest Arasi and she performs neatly.
I must say that all of the three do their roles in their own style.
For Jo this is certainly a brave attempt and she has broken the stereotype of her image. As ACP Naachiyaar she plays tough, and shines in the role.
The movie starts off with both Kaathu and Arasi caught by police for doing wrong – Arasi is pregnant and Kaathu is accused of raping a minor.
The first few scenes of the movie will give you some funny moments, but they don’t dilute the point of the movie in any way.
And Bala jumps right into the story when the movie starts and wastes no time.
In fact, the running time of the movie is a BIG plus which makes it short, sweet and to the point! It also makes the pace of the movie perfect.
The characters are introduced and shaped in a few scenes and then we dive deep into the story. Especially towards the interval we really get to dive deeper.
The second half then races with twists and turns that will surely keep you engaged.
And, unlike any Bala movie you can see some positivity. So if you are someone who is usually disturbed by a typical Bala style movie, you can watch Naachiyaar in peace.
Having said that there are some brutal scenes that might be uncomfortable for “soft” audience – be prepared.
Ilayaraja really takes you into the mood of the movie with the BGM. Technically, the movie is fine too!
