Summary
Mr. Local turns out to be a over-hyped templated comedy movie that has tried so much to be an entertainer but fails to be so.
You can skip this and save your time and money.

Mr. Local was in the limelight since its news started surfacing, mainly because of the star value.
The movie has SivaKarthikeyan and Nayanthara in the lead roles and the teaser and trailer promised an ego clash between a beautiful, high class egoistic woman and a middle class, easy going man.
That definitely sounded interesting although we could strongly smell the Mannan connection.
The movie also has Yogi Babu, Robo Shankar and Sathish to take care of the comedy department.
Wasn’t that enough to drive people to theatres eagerly to expect a mass entertainer? Yup it was!
But did the movie end up to be a mass entertainer? Read on!
Plot
There’s nothing much to talk about here as the movie has a wafer thin plot. The (so-called) story travels along in a very tiresome manner taking up the ego clash between the hero and the heroine in focus.

We have comedy sprinkled all over, but we don’t get to laugh that much.
Unlike in most of his earlier movies, SivaKarthikeyan plays an employed man, who is cool and jolly type.
We have a high class, egoistic woman Keerthana (Nayanthara) and the two meet in an accident.
Thereby we have various scenes where the two attack each other in various ways, and eventually fall in love.
What happens later (who cares!) forms the rest of the story.
Screenplay
The movie is totally let down by its weak writing. None of the characters are given their full depth and hence, we are unable to relate to any of them!

The director seems to have been so desperate and clueless while carrying on with certain scene placements.
Most of such scenes don’t add value or strength to the plot, and also are present in the movie only to make the audience feel bored and clueless.
The characters of SK and Nayan have been comparatively given depth, but still we could smell a templated formatting there too.
The movie is written in a way to please men who want to dominate women or to teach them values.
Keerthana is egoistic, but then she’s projected as so stupid because of her ego. And the hero is portrayed as if he is Mr. Right so he can teach the egoistic heroine what’s right.
All these sound too forced and hence the ego clash between the pair becomes a joke and unrealistic.
The pace is let down by a lot of things like unnecessary scenes, comic one-liners that don’t evoke laugh, the speed breaker songs and things like that.
At one point, we can’t help but look for the exit.
Acting by cast
Sivakarthikeyan has tried his best to look cool and relaxed in the role. And that has worked to some extent.

Nayanthara on the other hand, looks stunning and pulls off the egoistic lady character with much ease. In fact, none other than Nayan could have best suited this role.
Other than these two, Radhika steals the show and delivers neat performance.
The comedy department though doesn’t score much! And the comic actors also disappear after a point.
Technicals
The movie is partially good technically. The colors and vibrant scene setting add to the jolly mood of the movie.
In that context, Cinematography and Art Work have contributed to make the movie pleasing to the eyes.
Music though has turned out to be a disappointment. The BGM works rarely, and the songs are not up to the mark except Takkunu.
Mr. Local: Final Verdict
