Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 Review: A Trademark Santhanam Comedy Movie
Overall, Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 is a refreshing horror comedy that makes you laugh all along. If you know what to expect from DD2, you will be greatly entertained! Santhanam is truly back in his form in DD2 and the one-liners are up at perfect timing making you laugh all the way.

Santhanam is back on screen after a while with the sequel to the previous commercial hit Dhilluku Dhuddu.
With Pongal releases Petta and Viswasam still running, and with the previous week’s movies like Peranbu, Sarvam Thaala Mayam, and Vantha Raajavathan Varuven running too, Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 is in a tough competition.
But it seems that the movie has lived up to the expectations and hence will stand the competition.
As we are recently seeing, it is time for sequels in the tamil cinema industry. Some hits, some flops and some leaving us confused why a sequel is made in the first place.
Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 is a genuine attempt that is true to its genre.
The makers have been quite keen on just sticking to the basics of the genre and it has worked out quite well.
For a horror comedy, you need a few spooky scenes and slapstick comedy scenes put together in a way it is not so boring.
Given that we have had a truck load of horror and horror comedy movies in the recent times, it is indeed quite tricky to entertain the audience!
The expectations have gone way too high and spooky scenes turn out to be not very surprising.
However, in DD2, Rambhala has found the magic ingredient to make comedy work in its full length.

The brilliant combo of Santhanam and Motta Rajendran works wonders in the comedy department. And combined with a few spooky (comedy) scenes you have a clean winner at hand.
Don’t expect a story-rich movie or an in-depth screenplay. You will be disappointed.
But I am sure you won’t be keen on expecting anything serious in this movie. As you walk in, you already know what to expect – and you get exactly that.

A full length horror comedy movie that can entertain you as a family. A stress buster, I would say, for the weekend.
The movie has a very crisp run time and there are no intro songs, punches, unnecessary stuff whatsoever.
There are a couple of songs though and fights where we see Santhanam could have done better.
Nevertheless, he scores in what he is best at. The comedy.
He is truly back in his form in DD2 and the one-liners are up at perfect timing making you laugh all the way.
Santhanam plays Viji who is simply wasting his life with the company of his uncle played by Rajendran.
Annoyed by their drinking behaviour and other nuisances, a neighbour decides cross Viji’s lines with that of his colleague Maya (Shrita) who has a mysterious background.
After Viji falls for Maya, he proceeds to ask for the approval of her family and ends up in the mystery of sorts.
Apart from Motta Rajendran we also have Urvasi who compromises Santhanam well with her comedy.
Watch out for a door sequence in the movie.
DD2 proves 2 things –
1. A sequel can be made in an improvised manner, correcting the shortcomings of the previous movies and staying true to the genre.
2. Tamil cinema has been missing the Santhanam trademark comedy for quite a while now.
Overall, Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 is a refreshing horror comedy that makes you laugh all along. If you know what to expect from DD2, you will be greatly entertained!
