Popularly called as the Lady Super Star, Nayanthara (Diana Mariam Kuriyan) is at her peak in the cinema industry. She mostly appears in the South Indian films.
She made her debut in the Malayalam film Industry in the year 2003 in the movie Manassinakkare. It is said that she first turned down the offer to do her role in the Malayalam movie as she was pursuing her studies and finally agreed to do that one film alone.
She was doing modelling prior to working in cinema and she was spotted via her modelling work by director Sathyan Anthikkad.
Her tamil debut is via Ayya in 2005. Following that, she did a few roles in movies but her career shot up right after she appeared in Billa in 2007. In Billa, she went through a major makeover with toned physique and her role in Billa was impressive as well.
Later, even though she continued to do hero centric movies and played eye-candy type roles, she slowly started to choose movies that were heroine centric and/or unconventional ones. Those movies also ended up being commercial hits.
This trend earned her the Lady Super Star status. These days, her movies are treated just like any other big hero movies - not only the perceived value of the movies that feature her skyrocket, but merely casting her makes a winning formula for any project.
