Agni Devi Review
You can conveniently choose to do something else than watch Agni Devi.

Right from the title, everything about this movie is confusing and messy.
The movie initially had names Agni Vs Devi and Agni Dev prior to the final name Agni Devi.
It is about a lot of things that happen in the society narrated with a protagonist Agni Dev, an upright cop and Shakuntala Devi a bad high headed politician played by Madhoobala.
For about a few minutes of the firsthalf the movie sounds engaging. And then it just doesn’t lose track but also becomes nastily messy.
Bobby Simha’s role is somewhat well written but the actor looks attached to the script only in certain scenes.
Madhoobala tries her best to fit in the role that is definitely a challenge for her. But her efforts didn’t really fulfill the promise.
Her role is also written to resemble the real life lady politician who has a high voice and keeps men in control.

Ramya Nambeesan appears as a journalist and love interest of Dev. Her role is so underwritten and she has been wasted in the movie just like MS Bhaskar.
Sathish comes as Bobby’s sidekick and is totally out of form. His one liners fall flat and don’t kindle laughs at all.

We see the injured and critical Agni Dev in the ICU. In the flash back we are presented a story that’s inspired directly by the real world Swati’s murder that happened in Chennai.
Agni proceeds to probe the murder of a journalist who was about to interview him.
His investigation leads him to the politician Shakuntala but an innocent boy is brought in as the murderer.
And then there arises direct fights between Agni and Devi.

In between there are scattered and inconsistent references to the current political happenings.
Bobby has been dubbed by Daniel Balaji and we can see the inconsistency there too.
For most scenes in the later part of the movie Bobby is replaced by dupes and CGI. May be that’s because he walked away half way through the project.
You can conveniently choose to do something else than watch Agni Devi.
